IC456 Year of Flowers

Hello..... today I made a card - yay!  I bought this stamp set - Papertrey Ink's Year of Flowers Collection - ages ago and finally inked it up - I am sure you have never done that before ;)!

The inspiration challenge this week, at Splitcoaststampers, was from a Pinterest board - such a great spot to WASTE my time - Lol! I spent most of the morning perusing the board and finally settled on this piece to garner some inspiration from!

Using the Violets from PTI's stamp set, I inked and coloured them three times.  Then, using the dies available for this collection, I die cut them - yes - I die cut them after I coloured them - not too difficult a job (thank goodness!)

I actually had a piece of watercoloured paper, so I popped up the flowers onto the Picket Fence, and adhered it to the background.  I tucked a little piece of doily stamped with the sentiment Violets - from The Year of Flowers - Titles Mini Stamp Set - I thought they were Pansies - but what do I know?

Using the Polka Dot Basics, I stamped the polka dots in Classic Kraft along the bottom and then adhered it to my card base.  I added some Classic Kraft ribbon to finish it off!

Thanks for coming around today!

Using Cover Plate Negatives MIM

Over at Papertrey Ink,  Laurie is showing an interesting way to use your leftover negatives on your creation.  Take a peek at the video and see the easiest way ever to line up those little pieces!

I decided to use just a few of the circles from my Circles Die Cover Plate - following the video provided.  It is such a dreary day that my photo isn't the brightest - dang it...

The beautiful rose is from The Sweet Life Stamp set - I diecut and stamped a LOT of these flowers when I bought the set - so now I have them available for a quick card!  I stamped the leaves first and then popped up the rose.

I die cut the Double Ended banner die and embossed the sentiment - from On The Farm- onto Limeade Ice cardstock and popped it up- easy!

Backgrounds with Embossing Paste - MIM

Good morning - this week's Papertrey Ink Make it Monday challenge is to create a background using embossing paste.

Laura's first video is a great one and she showed us how to colour the embossing paste and also to make your own stencils.

I only have 3 reinkers - Pure Poppy, Raspberry Fizz and Hibiscus Burst so that is what I used to mix with my embossing paste. - how many more times can I say "embossing paste"?

Using the Cover Plate Circles Die, I diecut two and glued them together to make my stencil.

After mixing in my reinkers with the embossing paste - yep, I added the different colours to the stencil in an ombre fashion, removed the stencil - went to the dentist and waited for it to dry. - No cavities by the way :)

It makes a very cool and textured background - not so bad!

My sentiment, which is stamped onto a die cut using the Double Ended Banner die, is from the Healing Touch stamp set and of course those gorgeous butterflies just make it perfect!

Make it Monday-Creative Card Borders

Good day to you!  The wonderful Danielle Flanders has put together another awesome Make it Monday Challenge - to use non-border dies to create borders.  I am such a whine-bag, in that I often cringe at these challenges - what is wrong with just old-fashioned stamping?....and all that...

But a challenge isn't a challenge if you don't at least try, so being the trooper that I am - right??!

I used the Scent-sational (hah!) Scent-imental Stamp Set and matching dies, along with the sentiment from We Go Together to create my card.

I stamped the cute little cups with Spring Rain and Sweet Blush ink and then I made a coffee cup mask with a pop up note. I laid the mask on top of the images and then, using Spring Moss and Ripe Avocado ink, stamped the leaves from The Sweet Life behind for a little interest.

The Bitty Dots basics paper inside the card is Lavender Moon - it seemed like a closer match that the Sweet Blush paper....go figure.

To see how you create a card similar to this one - check out the Make It Monday video at Papertrey Ink - fabulous!
